KELLY FERGUSON | MINISTRY ASSISTANT

Kelly Ferguson, originally from Dayton, Ohio, settled in Maryville, Tennessee, in 1992 after marrying a native whom she met in 1985 while attending Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky.  She graduated from there in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Secretarial Practice before moving to Maryville with her husband of four years, and their six month-old daughter.

Kelly has served God in ministry most of her adult life. She started out helping her husband as a pastor’s wife until he died of cancer in 1999. Then she served part-time as a church secretary at Forest Hill Baptist Church in Maryville for twelve years before hiring on here as a ministry assistant in 2009. In her role here, Kelly assists our pastors with their ministries and serves the congregation and the public through the church office. She connects the congregation to each other and the community through our online directory, prayerline email, and Link newsletter. Her heart for ministry is currently tendered toward grief ministry, and she leads Hope Lifters, our grief support group from her first-hand experience with it..

Kelly discovered her God-given gift for writing while writing devotions for our prayerline, and in October 2019, she published her first devotional book, Love Lifted Me, which is available on Amazon. She is quiet, always thinking, and constantly analyzing. She may appear shy when you first meet her, but when she finally contributes to the conversation, you’ll realize she’s funny, smart, and has been listening and learning from you the entire time.
