Mothers of Preschoolers

Mothering is both art and science. It combines all of who we are to shape healthy, resilient kids. Mothering is so complex it requires both sides of our brain – not to mention our hands and feet, eyes and ears, mouth and sometimes even our noses! Through Momology, we’ll be guided by an all-knowing, all-powerful, always-present God. Our theme verse for the year is: Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast (Psalm 139:10). Anywhere we go, God sees, knows, and guides. So we can lead — and love — knowing God will get us through all the hard spots, all our decisions, all our roles, all our times we can’t hold open our eyelids and the times we’re bursting with joy. God’s hand guides us as we guide our children.

 

For our MOPS meetings, childcare called MOPPETS is available. Childcare will be located in the fellowship hall known as the “park”. You can park in the main parking lot and look for the entrance near the sanctuary where you can drive between the two buildings. Once inside, there will be signs directing you to the “park” area. Check-in for children begins at 8:50 A.M. Our MOPS meetings will be upstairs from 9:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. Take the stairs that are directly across the hallway from the “park” and follow the signs to our meeting place. For each meeting, feel free to bring coupons for formula, diapers, wipes, etc. and magazines to share with other moms. We will have breakfast together at the beginning of each meeting. If you can bring a food item (i.e., casserole, baked item, fruit, brownies, etc.), then the drinks will be provided (water, sodas, coffee, tea, hot chocolate).  

 

The fee for each MOPS meeting at First Baptist Church of Maryville is $4.00, which helps cover our local group’s expenses. If you have never been to a MOPS meeting at FBC Maryville, then your first meeting will be free. No mom will be turned away due to a lack of money. There are scholarships available.

 

At each meeting, we will be studying the book, MOMOLOGY: A Mom’s Guide to Shaping Great Kids. Backed by more than thirty years of research-based ministry at MOPS International, this book is designed to help you be the unique mother God created you to be – because better moms make a better world. The book will be available for purchase at our meetings for $5.00. Cash or checks will be accepted.

If you would like to join MOPS International, the fee is $23.95 per person. This fee covers a subscription to MomSense magazine, weekly encouragement e-mails, reusable shopping bag, frame magnet, bumper sticker, and a bag tag. This membership is optional and is NOT a requirement to be a part of our local MOPS group.

 

September 3^rd, October 1^st, November 5^th, December 3^rd, January 7^th , February 4^th , March 4^th , April 1^st, and May 6^th . We will also try to have field trips and play dates each month.

 

My hope is that MOPS will provide the support and encouragement you need at this stage of your life as a mother of a preschooler. I’m looking forward to a great MOPS year!
